Description
Interferon-alpha/beta receptor alpha chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IFNAR1 gene. It usually acts as a heterodimer together with IFNAR2. Type I interferon binding activates the JAK-STAT signaling cascade and triggers the tyrosine phosphorylation of many proteins, including JAK, TYK2, STAT proteins, and IFNRα- and β-subunits. It can form an active IFNB1 receptor by itself and activate a signal cascade that does not involve activation of the JAK-STAT pathway.
